At least 20 leaders and activists of BNP were injured in a clash between two groups over establishing supremacy in Monohorganj upazila of Comilla Friday afternoon.
Locals said there had been a prolonged dispute between former BNP lawmaker Anwarul Azim and Laksham upazila BNP President Abul Kalam alias Chaity Kalam over establishing supremacy in Comilla 9 (Laksam-Monohorgonj) constituency.
The clash, that left 20 injured from both the groups, took place after followers of Anwarul obstructed supporters of Kalam from attending a program at Kechtoal in the upazila.
They also vandalized at least 25 vehicles and set fire to five motorcycles.
On information, police rushed to the scene and brought the situation under control, said Anwar Hossain, officer-in-charge of Monohorganj police station.
