The transport strike called demanding the repair of Khulna-Jashore highway is underway in 15 districts.
The fuel oil distributors and Tank Lorry Owners Association members are observing the strike which began around 9am on Tuesday. It will end around 9am on Wednesday.
The strike is underway in Faridpur, Gopalganj, Rajbari, Madaripur, Shariatpur and 10 districts of Khulna division.

Sheikh Farid Hossain, Khulna division's general secretary of Tank Lorry Owners Association, said: "We have held a protest in front of Khalishpur's Meghna Depot in the morning. Owners, drivers and workers took part in it supporting the strike."
He said: "The highway is not in an usable condition. Everyday accidents are taking place. The condition of the highway has remained like this for the last two years but no initiative has been taken to repair it.
"So we were forced to go on a strike."
Khulna Metropolitan Police (KMP) Assistant Deputy Commissioner Sonali Sen told the Dhaka Tribune: "The situation is normal here.
"We have already deployed additional police for the visit of President Abdul Hamid."
The president is scheduled to visit Khulna on Wednesday.
