Lightning kills 3 onion farmers in Pabna

Three onion farmers have been killed after being struck by lightning in a field in Sujanagar upazila of Pabna. Dulal Hossain, 40, Abdul Alim, 32, and Loim Uddin, 50, from Bikramaditya village in Manikhaat union, were patrolling the onion field on Friday night when they died. Their bodies were rescued on Saturday morning. Senior Assistant Superintendent of Police Md Forhad Hossain confirmed the deaths. He said: “The farmers went to pick onions from the field on Friday afternoon and returned home when the storm began. However, they went back at night to patrol the fields. They were struck by lightning and killed on the spot when it started raining again. “Their families searched all over for them when they did not return,” he added. He said locals found their bodies in the field around 11am Saturday and notified the police, who then recovered the bodies and handed them over to their respective families.
