A 23-year-old betel-leaf seller, Shourav Mia, injured three policemen with a surgical blade Tuesday noon in Gaibandha Pouro Park area.
Gaibandha Sadar police station Inspector Mujibur Rahman said: “Gaibandha court police’s Town Sub-Inspector (TSI) Abu Sayeed and Sadar police outpost’s Assistant Town Sub-Inspectors (ATSI) Abdus Sattar and Sanowar Hossain went to Shourav’s shop to buy betel leaf, chocolates and several other things Monday afternoon.
"When they had a dispute over the payment, Sayeed slapped Shourav.”
“However, when the trio on duty went to Shourav's stall on Tuesday again, Shourav flew into a temper and attacked them with a surgical knife before trying to flee the scene. We also found three more surgical blades in his shirt’s pocket,” Gaibandha Sadar police station OC Khan Md Shahriar said.
The three policemen, all of whom sustained cuts on their hands from the blade, were admitted to Gaibandha Modern Sadar Hospital afterwards.
OC Shahriar said: “Shourav is in police custody now. We are looking into his records and in the meantime, a case has been filed against him.”
