A Bogra man has been sentenced to life imprisonment for killing his younger brother.
Bogra First Additional District and Sessions Judge Mohammad Emdadul Haque sentenced Al Faruq James, 30, of Dudhia village in Raninagar upazila, and his cohort Sujon Mahmud Sourav, 28, of Phuldighi Moddhopara village in Shajahanpur upazila, for murdering 20-year-old Jahid Hasan Joy, on Tuesday.
The duo were also fined Tk50,000 each, and, in default, six months of additional imprisonment.
According to the case records, James, a rent-a-car driver, plotted to kill his younger brother Joy, who was a student of Government Azizul Haque College, in a bid to take possession of his inherited property.
On September 22, 2013, James and his Sourav kidnapped Joy and force feed him some juice laced with sedatives. Later, when Joy fell asleep, the connivers strangulated him to death with a piece of cloth.
