Some unidentified men have launched an attack on the car carrying Kushtia Islamic University Vice Chancellor Professor Dr M Harun-Ur-Rashid Askari on his his way to Kushtia from Jhenidah early hours on Friday.
The university police station's Officer-in-Charge (OC) Raton Shiekh said some men had intercepted the VC's car felling trees near Baroda area on Jhenidah-Kushtia highway around 3:30pm.
The attackers had broken the side-window glasses and windshield of the car, and had also snatched the money bag and the cellphone handset from the VC, the OC added
IU Registrar Abdul Lafit has filed a robbery case in this connection.
Claiming the attack as pre-planned, Professor Rashid Askari sought Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's help to increase his security.
