A team of Bangladesh Army’s bomb disposal unit destroyed a mortar shell in Panchagarh on Wednesday.
The mortar shell was made in 1943.
Senior Warrant Officer Hafizur Rahman led the bomb disposal team and exploded the bomb in an island on the bank of Korotoya River.
According to police, the bomb was made during World War II.
Altaf Hossain Sarker, sub-inspector of Panchagarh police, said the bomb was kept in police custody before the army's bomb disposal unit destroyed it.
