Three alleged members of the Sundarbans bandit group Sumon Bahini have been killed in a "gunfight" with Rapid Action Battalion (RAB).
The "gunfight" took place in Baleshwari River’s Shukhpara area under Sarankhola upazila, lasting from 8:40am to 9:20am on Thursday morning.
RAB 8 Operation Officer Maj Sohel Rana Prince informed that acting on a tip-off from local fishermen, RAB carried out an operation.
Sensing the presence of RAB, the bandits opened fire, to which RAB retaliated, leading to the "gunfight."
Later, three bodies along with a huge number of arms and ammunition were recovered from the spot.
The deceased could not be identified immediately.
