Another incident of violence was reported at Sher-e-Bangla Medical College Hospital in Barisal, where intern doctors allegedly beat up family members of a patient.
The incident took place on Sunday afternoon at the women's medicine ward unit 1 between a relative of a patient and an intern named Mahadi.
After the two had an argument, several interns reportedly charged at the man and later let him go after he apologized.
The hospital director had to come to the scene to intervene.
Director Dr Md Mostafizur Rahman said the hospital would place some personnel at the three entrances to control the flow of visitors.
Eye-witnesses said an intern tried to throw a man out when he entered with medication for a patient, leading to an argument. Later interns ganged up on him.
Intern Doctors Association Secretary Dr Nahid said a patient's relative harassed an intern doctor when he was asked to leave an overcrowded ward.
“When other interns went to confront him, he behaved very inappropriately. He may have been given one or two slaps,” he said.
