A transport worker has been burnt to death, after a bitumen-laden truck caught fire in Gazipur city. The worker was identified as Rinku, 35. Police and fire service sources said the truck caught fire suddenly while it was stationed at a road development site on the Dhaka bypass, in the Nauroj area of the city, around 4:30pm on Monday. The origin of the fire could not be determined immediately. On receiving the information, two units from Gazipur Fire Station rushed to the spot and brought the fire under control after 20 minutes of effort. The charred body of Rinku was later recovered from inside the truck. Gazipur Fire Station Assistant Sub-Inspector Asif Zakaria said the truck was completely burnt by the fire.
