A Khulna court has suspended the trial proceedings of a case filed against Shahjalal, whose eyes were allegedly gouged out by police after a mob lynching over a snatching incident.
Khulna Metropolitan Sessions Judge Arup Kumar Goswami gave the order on Monday, confirmed Shahjalal's lawyer Md Mominul Islam.
The judge has also asked for the case dockets from the lower court and fixed November 29 for a revision hearing into the charges.
Earlier on October 16, the same court granted permanent bail to Shahjalal in the case filed by one Suma Akhter over the attempted snatching of her vanity bag near Khalishpur’s Golakhali rail line on July 18.

The man was shown arrested in the case on the same day.
According to police, Shahjahan was caught by some bystanders during the snatching incident.
He underwent a mob lynching there before being handed over to police, and those who were involved in the beating are responsible for damaging his eyes, claimed police.
Shahjalal, on the contrary, alleged that he was tortured by the policemen inside and outside of the police station on the night of his arrest after he refused to pay them a bribe.
A departmental probe body has been formed to investigate the allegations of his torture in police custody.
