Shakib’s father Abdul Majid told the Dhaka Tribune: “Shakib legally went to India on September 26 to visit my daughter. He later went, from his sister’s house, to visit Changrabandha. Despite having proper travel documents, he was detained by the BSF and tortured. “I want my son returned home and justice for this incident,” he demanded. Confirming the incident, Lalmonirhat BGB 15th Battalion Director Lt Col Golam Morshed said they had already held a company commander-level flag meeting with BSF at Burimari-Changrabandha land port zero point on the matter. “Talks are in progress for Shakib’s safe return.”
