Hindu priest, wife found dead in Chittagong

Police have recovered dead bodies of a Hindu priest and his wife from a room next to a temple in Satkania upazila, Chittagong on Tuesday. The deceased were identified as Swapan Dey, 60, and his wife Chinu Dey, 47. The police primarily suspect that the couple may have committed suicide. Speaking to the Dhaka Tribune, Satkania police station OC Rafiqul Hossain said they recovered the bodies around 11am on Tuesday. “The couple was living in a room next to a temple in the area. There were no visible wounds on any of the bodies, but we found foam in the priest's mouth,” the OC said. “After word spread about the couple's death, a number of lenders gathered outside their residence. We primarily suspect that the couple may have committed suicide after failing to pay off their debts,” he added. He further said the bodies had been sent to Chittagong Medical College for an autopsy.
