Man allegedly killed by friends for ransom in Sirajganj

A man has been killed allegedly by his friends during a picnic in Sirajganj’s Belkuchi upazila. The deceased Montosh Kumar Sarkar’s, 28, was son of Mangal Chandra Sarkar. Belkuchi police station officer-in-charge (OC) Sajjad Hossai said Montosh’s friends including Sujon Sarkar, Shipon Sharkar and few others took him to a picnic in a remote area in Belkuchi's Biswadbari village on Monday. He said Montosh’s friends confined him after getting him drunk and called his cousin Krishna Sarkar for Tk200,000 ransom. When Montosh’s family arrived at the mentioned location with the ransom money on Tuesday morning, they could not find anyone on the spot, the OC added. OC Sajjad said Krishna filed a complaint with Belkuchi police station on Tuesday noon and police arrested Sujon and Shipon. “According to the information given by the duo, we recovered Montosh’s body from local Hurasagar River," the OC said further. Montosh did his Masters on Botany from Sirajganj Government University College.
