Child murdered for his father’s extra-marital affair

A woman and her relatives murdered a child over an extra-marital affair involving the boy’s father in Kaliakoir upazila of Gazipur on Tuesday. Police found the boy’s body in a ditch on Thursday, two days after the murder. The boy, Al Amin, 6, is the son of Jewel Hossain of Telirchala area. Police have arrested Nuresa Begum, 45, her son Joynal Abedin, 19, and her daughter Nishita Akhter, 21, in connection with the murder. Quoting locals, Kaliakoir police station Officer-in-Charge Rafiqul Islam told the Dhaka Tribune: “Nishita, who is a married woman at that time, got into an affair with her neighbor Jewel in 2015. Relationship between the families of Jewel and Nishita deteriorated after their extra-marital affair became public knowledge. Jewel refused to marry Nishita, after facing pressure from members of her family.” “Nishita’s brother Joynal and his cohorts lured 6-year-old son Al Amin to a secluded area, and murdered him on Tuesday as an act of revenge against his father Jewel. The boy was strangled by a nylon rope, and his tendons were cut. Al Amin’s body was then dropped into a ditch,” continued the police official. The boy’s relatives filed a general diary with the police, after searching for the victim for hours. Police detained Nishita’s brother Joynal for questioning, and based on his confessions, found the victim’s body in a ditch on the early hours of Thursday. The boy’s father has filed a case at Kaliakoir police station over the murder.
