Police have recovered the bodies of seven Rohingya who drowned in the Naf River estuary while trying to flee the violence in Rakhine state of neighbouring Myanmar.
The three children and four women were found at the Majarpara, Mistripara and Poshchimpara points of Shah Porir Dip in Teknaf upazila, Cox’s Bazar.

According to local residents, the dead bodies were washed ashore on Wednesday morning after their boat capsized in the river.
“A total of 65 dead bodies have been recovered since the latest crackdown erupted in Myanmar’s Rakhine state,” Teknaf Model police station OC Main Uddin Khan told the Dhaka Tribune.

Meanwhile, some 2,649 Rohingyas were returned to Myanmar by Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) members while they were trying to enter Bangladesh through different points of the Naf River in Teknaf upazila.
Additional District Magistrate of Cox’s Bazar Khaled Mahmud confirmed the push backs to the Dhaka Tribune, citing BGB.
