An Awami League activist has succumbed to injuries from an explosion during a brawl over Eid prayers in Chuadanga’s Alamdanga upazila.
The deceased is Jainal Abedin, 45. Sources said he died at Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) around 3pm on Monday.
A clash broke out between two factions of the ruling party on Saturday, the Eid day, over conducting the Eid prayers. At one stage, the brawl intensified and the two groups started hurling bombs at each other on the Eid prayer ground, injuring at least 24 people.
Many of the injured were rushed to different local hospitals, while the rest, including Jainal, to the DMCH the same day where he finally died.
