The father of former Bangladesh national cricket team captain Khaled Masud Pilot tragically drowned in the Sagorpara area of Rajshahi on Sunday.
Pilot's father Shamsul Islam Mollah went to a pond in the area to take a bath at around 11:30 in the morning when the incident occurred, reports UNB.
Rajshahi Fire Service Station Officer Farhad Hossain said a team from fire services rushed to the location after receiving the information and retrieved the body at 2:30pm.
The 70-year-old Shamsul had also represented his country in sport as a former footballer with the Bangladesh national team.
Family sources said that Pilot was on his way to Rajshahi from Dhaka at the time of filing this report.
