Two separate courts in Dhaka have rejected the bail petitions of Nagorik Oikya Convener Mahmudur Rahman Manna in two cases.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Ataul Hoque rejected Manna's bail in sedition case while Senior District and Sessions Judge Md Kamrul Hossain Molla rejected Manna's bail in another case filed for trying to instigate revolt by the armed forces.
On March 7, a Dhaka court placed Manna on a 10-day remand in the sedition case filed against him and BNP senior leader Sadeuqe Hossain Khoka with Gulshan police station.
An audio tape of a telephonic conversation between Manna and BNP leader Sadek Hossain Khoka was leaked on February 22. The audio tape revealed that they were allegedly plotting a conspiracy of bloodshed in Universities.
Manna was arrested on February 24, a day after the leak of his controversial telephone conversation with Khoka, who has been staying in the USA for treatment purpose.
After his arrest, he also placed on a 10-day remand in another case filed with the same police station on charges of trying to instigate revolt by the armed forces.
