'Decision on appeal after full verdict'

The prosecution lawyers has said they would take decision on filing an appeal against the tribunal's verdict in Abdul Jabbar case, after getting the copy of the full text.

Replying to the query of journalists, Prosecutor Turin Afroz said: “We will take the decision on filing an appeal after getting the full copy of the verdict.”

Regarding the verdict that sentenced the fugitive war criminal to imprisonment until death, she said: “The Tribunal has pronounced the verdict, considering the old age of the war criminal.”

“All the judges unanimously agreed that Jabbar deserved the highest punishment for his crime. But, his punishment has been mitigated, considering his age.”

Earlier in the day, war criminal Abdul Jabbar has been awarded imprisonment unto death by the International Crimes Tribunal 1.

The three-member International Crimes Tribunal 1, led by Justice M Enayetur Rahim, found Jabbar guilty in all the five charges brought against him.
