BNP leader Shahjahan, 5 others on fresh remand

A Dhaka court has granted two days of remand to six leaders of the 20-party alliance including BNP Joint Secretary General Mohammad Shahjahan.

They were remanded in a case filed for torching and vandalising vehicles at Banani in Dhaka.

Metropolitan Magistrate Md Anwar Sadat passed the order rejecting their bail petitions on Wednesday afternoon.

Banani police station SI Md Ashraful Islam produced them before the court with a 10-day remand plea which was filed on January 15.

Police picked up Shahjahan along with BNP activist Belal Ahmed from Gulshan area in Dhaka on January 12.

Later, he was shown arrested in the torching and vandalism case.

Banani police filed the case against Shahjahan and 78 other leaders and activists of BNP-led 20-party alliance under Explosive Substance Act for their alleged involvement in violence on January 6.
