Police have detained a youth for defaming Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in the social media Facebook.
The detainee is Rajan Das (35), son of Dayananda Das, hailed from Lauraftehpur village under Nabinagar upazila of Brahmanbaria district, said Rupak Kumar Saha, officer-in-charge of Nabinagar police station.
The villagers beat Rajan for defaming the PM, the police official said.
Later, Barrister Zakir Ahmed, assistant secretary of the central sub-committee of Bangladesh Awami League, informed the matter to the police.
On information, police raided the village and arrested youth Rajan.
Police will take legal action after investigating the matter, the OC said.
