Two cases have been filed against 150 leaders and activists of BNP and its youth and student wings in connection with Wednesday’s clash with Chhatra League men in Bakshibazar of the city.

Former Chhatra Dal president Azizul Bari Helal and its incumbent president Rajib Ahsan have been named as accused in a case, UNB reported.

Sub-inspector Saheb Ali of Nilkhet police camp filed a case with Shahbagh police station against 23 identified and some 50 to 60 unidentified Jubo Dal and Chhatra Dal men on Wednesday night. They were sued for their alleged involvement in the attempt to murder Awami League MP Chhabi Bishaws and also in arson, vandalism and attack on the law enforcers.

In another case filed with Chawkbazar police station by its Sub-nspector Delwar Hossain, some 70 identified and another 30 to 40 unnamed BNP men were made accused for allegedly assaulting police.

On Wednesday noon, BNP leaders and activists clashed with Chhatra League activists near Bakshibazar makeshift court ahead of BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia’s appearance in the court in two graft cases. At least 30 people including a ruling party MP were injured in the clash.

Miscreants also torched a parked private car of Chhobi Bishwas MP during the clash.
