The High Court has granted a four-week anticipatory bail to a former Jessore MP and his wife.
Khan Tipu Sultan and Jesmin Ara Begum got the relief in a case filed over the alleged murder of their daughter-in-law where they were both implicated along with their son.
The court of Justices AB Mahmudul Hossain and Md Akram Hossain Chowdhury granted the bail following a petition on Sunday afternoon.
Earlier in the day, a Dhaka court remanded Khan Tipu Sultan's son for three days for alleged involvement in his wife's murder. The police had sought a 10-day remand.
Humayun Sultan was arrested on November 14 after his father-in-law filed a murder case.
Dr Shamaruf Mahzabin Kona, Humayun's 24-year old wife, was apparently found hanging in the bathroom of her in-law’s Dhanmondi house on Thursday afternoon.
Her father, Nurul Islam, filed a murder case against Humayun and also implicated the former MP and his wife.
