The Appellate Division of the Supreme Court has upheld its previous stay order on the High Court bail granted to the son of a former HC judge, till December 31.
The four-member bench headed by Chief Justice Md Muzammel Hossain passed the order on Sunday morning.
The court also asked to resolve the HC rule by December 31 that was issued in this connection.
On September 24, former HC Judge Abdus Salam Mamun's 26-year-old son Asif Adnan Shuvo and a senior bureaucrat's son, Fazle Elahi Tanzil were arrested from their residences in the capital.
A case was filed against the duo under Anti-terrorism Act 2009 for “conspiring to commit terrorist and militant activities."
Asif was allegedly recruited as an Islamic State fighter by a UK citizen of Bangladeshi origin.
They were reportedly planning to go to Syria through Turkey with the UK citizen's help posing as members of Tabligh Jamaat, a peaceful movement for spreading Islamic values, investigators learned during interrogations. The duo are the supporters of Ansarullah Bangla Team, a militant outfit.
