The war crimes tribunal will issue a death warrant for Mohammad Kamaruzzaman after getting a copy of the Appellate Division’s verdict, Attorney General Mahbubey Alam has said.
Alam made the opinion at a press conference in the High Court on Sunday afternoon.
He said the tribunal will order the execution of the verdict after it receives the verdict copy from the Appellate Division of the Supreme Court.
It will be then sent to the jail authorities and the authorities will inform it to the convict, he added.
On May 9 last year, International Crimes Tribunal awarded death sentence to Kamaruzzaman for committing heinous crimes against humanity. He appealed against the judgement after a month.
On November 3, 2014, the Appellate Division upheld the death penalty to Kamaruzzaman for war crimes in 1971.
