A High Court bench yesterday asked the government why operations of three Indian TV channels should not be stopped.The bench of Justice Moyeenul Islam Chowdhury and Justice M Ashraful Kalam passed the order on a writ petition by Supreme Court lawyer Shaheen Ara Laily seeking directives to stop the operation of Star Jalsa, Star Plus and Zee Bangla.
The court made the secretaries of information and home ministries, BTRC chairman, DG of BTV, the IGP, and the channels’ distributor Dg Jadu Broadband Limited respondents and directed them to reply within four weeks.
