Six hawkers have been fined by a mobile court for selling tobacco by-products at the deputy commissioner's office compound in Barisal.
The fined hawkers are Toiab Ali Haoladar, Zakir Haoladar, Sunon Hossain, Sultan Shikdar, Sajib Kazi and Aiub Ali.
Of them, Toiab Ali Haoladar, Zakir Haoladar, Sunon Hossain and Sultan Shikdar were fined Tk1,200 each while Sajib Kazi and Aiub Ali were fined Tk1,000 each, the court sources said.
Papiya Sultana, administrative magistrate led the mobile court on Tuesday noon.
The six persons were first detained for openly selling tobacco by-products like cigarettes, bidi and chewing tobacco items at the DC office compound.
Later, they were released after realising the amount of fine, the court sources added.
