Rights group Manusher Jonno Foundation yesterday demanded the arrest of those who had gang raped an indigenous woman in Nachole Upazila in Chapainababganj.
Manusher Jonno Foundation came up with such a demand in a press release yesterday, two days after the Dhaka Tribune had run a report on the incident on Tuesday.
Earlier on Monday, a Union Parishad member and the president of Chapainawabganj District National Indigenous Forum was allegedly gang raped by former Union Parishad Chairman Razzak and his 30 to 35 accomplices.
In a press release, the rights group said: “Manusher Jonno Foundation and its associate organizations strongly protest such an inhumane and brutal incident. We demand immediate arrest of the culprits and exemplary punishment after legal process.”
It said that the victim was under treatment at Chapainababganj Sadar Hospital.
Manusher Jonno Foundation expressed grave concern claiming that attacks, land grabbing, rape, killing, eviction have been increasing against indigenous community in the recent times in the country.
