Speakers at a human chain in front of the National Press Club said Israeli forces had been killing Palestinians mercilessly, and attacking Palestine territory without any legal grounds. They also alleged that the UN’s indifference in this regard had goaded the military actions in Gaza to a great extent.
Jonmo Odhikar Bastobayon Songstha and Swadhinota and Manobadhikar Bastobayon Foundation formed the human chain in the capital, while different professional, cultural and political organisations also formed human chains, hosted rallies and protest gatherings in Moulvibazar yesterday.
Protesters criticised the UN saying it had failed to stop the blatant human rights violation. They also criticised the Arab leaders for remaining quiet in this regard.
Bam-Front Chairman Dr MA Samad and Durniti Protirodh Andolon President Harunur Rashid Khan addressed the human chain, among others. Large numbers of people also took part in the human chain.
Meanwhile, speakers at different protest programmes in Moulvibazar demanded that steps be taken to stop bomb attacks in Gaza, and urged the Muslim community and freedom loving people across the globe to stand beside the people of Gaza. Wearing black badges, members of Arunodoy Moulvibazar, a socio-cultural organisation, brought out a rally in the town and distributed leaflets to press home their demand – an immediate stop to the killing of people in Gaza.
Anti-genocide Movement Moulvibazar also formed a human chain on Monday in Poura Park area to protest the Israeli aggression.
