Former VC of Stamford University sent to jail

Stamford University’s former vice-chancellor MA Hannan Feroz was sent to jail on charge of being involved in an attack on former Bangladesh Chhatra League leader Enamul Haque Shameem.

Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Md Alamgir Kabir Raj passed the order, turning down his bail plea.

Nibaron Chandro Barmon, investigation officer, petitioned the court to confine Hannan for the sake of proper investigation, following two rounds of remand.

On July 16, Hannan was arrested by DB Police at his Dhanmondi residence.

According to Nibaron, the arrest was made based on information provided by Rana Hawlader, an accused in the case.

On June 19, Shameem received bullet wounds when three men on a motorbike shot him in Dhanmondi.
