A case was filed with Mathbaria police station in Pirojpur yesterday against seven people including a fake physician and an owner of a clinic for allegedly killing a patient with the wrong treatment.
Officer-in-Charge Nd Nasir Uddin Mallik of Mathabaria police station said Sabina Aktar, 14, daughter of Abdul Hamid Hawladar of village Golaghata under Bamna upazila in the district, was admitted to a local clinic named Mohima Clinilc and Nursing Home on June 15 when she fell sick.
The patient’s situation deteriorated further on Wednesday noon and then she was administered an injection by DK Haldar, a so-called physician of the clinic.
Sabina died soon after she was injected, the OC also said. Nasir Uddin told the Dhaka Tribune that the clinic authorities tried to strike a deal with the victim’s father to remain quite on this issue in exchange for Tk50,000.
As soon as the police was informed of the matter; Mathbaria upazila Chairman Ashrafur Rahman, Ahsan Habib, upazila nirbahi officer, and the police jointly raided the clinic and arrested Morjina Akter and Chhabi Begum, the nurses, Alamgir, the guard, and Russel, a broker of the clinic.
Later, the victim’s father, Abdul Hamid sued Md Mustafa, the owner of the clinic, DK Haldar, the fake doctors and the others involved for murder and fraudulent activities.
When asked, the OC said DK Haldar didn’t have any practising license when he had inquired about him with upazila health and family planning officer.
