A Dhaka court has deferred the testimonies of prosecution witnesses in two cases against BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia until July 9.
Judge of Special Judge Court 3 Basudev Roy passed the order after defence lawyer Sanaullah Mia appealed for time on Thursday afternoon.
Sanaullah Mia appealed for time as the hearing on Khaleda's petitions is scheduled to be held on Thursday.
On May 25, a High Court bench gave split orders on two writ petitions filed by Khaleda challenging the legality of the appointment of Dhaka’s Special Judge Basudev Roy, who charged the BNP chairperson.
Later on June 15, Chief Justice Md Muzammel Hossain fixed a High Court judge to pass order on BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia’s petitions.
Justice Quazi Reza-Ul Hoque will hear the pleas.
