Ex-secretary to be sued for plot forgery

Update : 12 Jun 2014, 09:13 PM

The Anti-Corruption Commission will file a case against former assistant secretary M Ali Hossain of the Liberation War Affairs Ministry on charges of allegedly acquiring two government plots illegally.

A commission meeting yesterday approved the filing of the case as investigation found that Ali Hossain had illegally acquired a plot from the Rajdhani Unnayan Kartripakkha and another from the National Housing Authority, an ACC official told reporters.

He said the former government official had acquired both the plots through forgery and abusing power during his service tenure.

An individual cannot acquire two government plots according to the law, the official added.

As the inquiry found the former assistant secretary guilty of the irregularities, the commission’s Deputy Director Mohammad Ibrahim would file the case against Ali Hossain, the ACC official said.

Earlier on April 22, the commission had filed three separate cases against Expatriates Welfare and Overseas Employment Secretary Khandakar Shawkat Hossain on charges of illegally acquiring plots from Rajuk.
