The authorities of Management Studies Department at Rajshahi University yesterday formed a five-member probe committee to investigate into the matter of a death threat to a teacher by a student of the department.
Campus sources said a masters’ student of the department Rahajul Amin Ridoy, who was also a joint secretary of Bangladesh Chhatra League RU unit, had threatened to kill Shamim Hossain, an assistant professor of the department, as the teacher refused to give lunch boxes to a group of BCL activists without vouchers on Pahela Boishakh.
Shamim Hossain said Ridoy along with 12/13 BCL activists came to his room and demanded lunch boxes for all of them around 1:30pm.
“When I refused to give them lunch boxes without vouchers, Ridoy argued with me and left the room threatening to kill me,” the teacher said.
“Two hours later, around 3:30pm, Ridoy repeated those threats over phone,”he added.
Chairman of department Professor Saiful Islam said after getting allegations from the teacher against BCL leader Ridoy, we formed a five member probe committee to investigate matter.
A general diary will be filled with the local police station.
When contacted, Ridoy denied allegation and said he was not aware of such incident.
