Bangladesh Agricultural University unit of Bangladesh Chhatra League permanently expelled its two activists namely Sujoy Kumar Kundu, organising secretary of Ashraful Haque Hall BCL BAU unit and Md Rukonuzzaman Rukon, an activist of the student body in face of strong protest by the students who are accused as Saad’s killers on Friday evening.
Saiful Islam, general secretary of BCL BAU unit confirmed the authenticity of the expulsion. Police arrested Sujoy Kumar Kundu and Rukonuzzaman Rukon on Wednesday night who are the prime suspects in Saad’s murder case from Mymensingh town. The two arrestees were produced before a court that sent them to jail on Thursday.
BAU authority served show cause notices to the arrestees asking them to reply by April 7. Board of Residence and Students Discipline would take final decision at its meeting scheduled to be held on April 8 evening with vice-chancellor of BAU Professor Rafiqul Haque as the chair, said Professor Shahidur Rahman Khan, proctor of BAU.
Hundreds of agitating students of BAU observed their scheduled programmes protesting the killing of Saad Ibne Momtaz yesterday.
The students lighted candles at the pedestal of Bijoy’71 and held a rally on the campus yesterday in the afternoon. At the rally, the students demanded permanent expulsion of Saad’s killers from the university to create congenial academic atmosphere in the university.
Later, they brought out a procession. The students also organized a “mass signature collection campaign” at the pedestal of Bijoy’71 to drum out supports in favour of their demands including arrest of all the involved in Saad’s killing and to make their names public.
BCL BAU unit also formed a human chain on the campus demanding the immediate arrest of Saad’s killers yesterday. BAU unit BCL President Morsheduzzaman Khan Babu and General Secretary Md Saiful Islam led the human chain programme, campus sources said.
Saad, 21, a final year student of Fisheries Faculty of BAU and organizing secretary of BCL Ashraful Haque Hall unit, was killed by the attack of fellow friends who are also BCL men.
