A Dhaka court yesterday summoned two top officials of Ashiyan Homes Limited, including its Managing Director Nazrul Islam Bhuiyan, in a case filed over a non-payment of arrear bills.
The other accused is Deputy Managing Director Saiful Islam Bhuiyan.
The case was filed by M Akter Hossain, head of administration and management of Somoy Multimedia Limited, with Dhaka Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Court.
Metropolitan Magistrate Joynab Begum passed the order.
Ashiyan Homes inked an agreement with Somoy Multimedia for broadcasting their advertisement in private television channel Somoy TV. Later on January 18 and 20 this year, Ashiyan Homes issued two cheques worth Tk7,647,957 as payments. However, both of the cheques were rejected.
Saidur Rahman, the counsel for the plaintiff, said the two cheques bounced at Gulshan branch of Shahjalal Islam Bank because of insufficient balance.
