Police and Rapid Action Battalion in a combined drive rescued four Bangladeshi tourists at Cox’s Bazar early yesterday, five hours after the tourists were kidnapped by a group of miscreants.
The law enforcers also arrested four people in this connection.
Cox’s Bazar sadar police station Officer-in-Charge Jasim Uddin said a group of muggers kidnapped the four tourists in the Medical College area around 10pm on Tuesday. The rescued tourists are Ronju Howladar, 22, Saddam Howladar, 22, Samrat Bepari, 22, and Abdullah, 25.
On information, police and RAB conducted a drive and rescued the four around 3am. They also arrested Karim, 32, Hafez Aman Ullah, 27, Osman Sorwar Rana, 23, and Nur Mohammad, 28, and recovered two cartridges from the spot.
Ronju Howladar later filed a case with the Sadar police station in this regard.
