A Manikganj court yesterday fixed February 13 for delivering verdict in the case of violating a female garment worker on a running bus on the Dhaka-Aricha highway.
The Manikganj Sessions Judge Mostafa Dewan fixed the date.
Public Prosecutor Abdus Salam narrated the case statement and sought highest punishment to the accused.
The two accused – bus driver Dipu Miah, 30, and his helper Kashem Miah, 27 – are now in jail.
PP Abdus Salam said a total of 14 witnesses had given deposition in the case.
On January 24 last year, the 19-year-old garment worker was raped on a bus in the afternoon. Bus driver Dipu first tried to violate her while his assistance Kashem raped her.
Police rescued the victim inManikganj Central Bus Terminal that evening.
Doctors examined her at ManikganjSadar Hospital.Later, the victim filed a case under Women and Children Repression Prevention Act accusing the driver and the helper.
Police arrested Dipu in Manikganj Bus Stand that evening and Kashem in Nabinagar of Ashulia at night.
Next day they gave confessional statement under the section 164 before a Manikganj court.
