The Election Commission yesterday sent affidavit copies of five Awami League candidates except former health minister AFM Ruhal Haque to the Anti-Corruption Commission.
The commission will decide at the EC meeting on sending the affidavit copy of Ruhal Haque as he had submitted an amendment affidavit to the EC, a deputy secretary of the EC told the Dhaka Tribune.
Earlier, the ACC sent a letter to the chief election commissioner, requesting him to provide the affidavit copies of six Awami League candidates.
The six are: former health minister AFM Ruhal Haque, former state minister for housing and public works Abdul Mannan Khan, former state minister for water resources Mahbubur Rahman, and lawmakers Abdur Rahman Badi from Cox’s Bazar, Aslamul Haque from Dhaka and Abdul Jabbar from Satkhira.
The ACC was also looking to trace the reasons behind the astronomical rise in wealth of Awami League lawmaker Enamul Haque from Rajshahi.
