The High Court has ordered the law enforcing agencies not to show BNP leaders-Abdul Awal Mintoo and AM Mahbub Uddin Khokon- as arrested or harass them in further cases without following due process of law.
The bench of Justice Salma Masud Chowdhury and Justice Md Habibul Gani passed the order after hearing two writ petitions filed by the leaders.
The court also issued a rule seeking explanation by four weeks why the shown arrest without maintaining due process should not be declared illegal.
Mintoo was shown arrested in three cases while Khokon in two cases.
Barrister Rafique-Ul Huq contended for the BNP leaders while Deputy Attorney General Mokleshur Rahman represented the government.
On November 8, Mintoo was nabbed in front of Hotel Sonargaon while khokon on December 26 near Matsya Bhaban of the capital.
