The pro-Awami League lawyers of the Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) said that they will not observe the “work abstention” in all the courts of the country on Tuesday called by the pro-opposition lawyers of the organisation.
The Awami backed lawyers came up with the decision at a rally held in the Supreme Court premises on Tuesday morning.
They also urged the Chief Justice not to give any permission to bring out procession and rally in the Supreme Court premises.
Syed Mamun Mahbub, ex assistant secretary of the organisation, also said the activities of the High Court must go on with the Appellate Division, otherwise people will suffer to get justice in due time.
Former SCBA secretary Momtaz Uddin Mehedi was also present in the rally.
Earlier on Monday afternoon, the Supreme Court Bar Association, led by pro-opposition lawyers, asked judges and lawyers to observe a “work abstention” in all the courts of the country Tuesday, in protest against the attack made on the pro-BNP lawyers on Sunday and Monday.
“The attack is like a strike on the judicial system,” AJ Mohammad Ali, president of the organisation told a press briefing held at the SCBA building.
