Update : 08 Dec 2013, 01:10 PM

The authorities of Dhaka Central Jail and the district administration have received the copies of the death warrant issued against convicted war criminal Quader Molla, on Sunday.

Dhaka district Deputy Commissioner Sheikh Yusuf Harun confirmed the news to the Dhaka Tribune.

He said: “We have received copies of the death warrant issued against Quader Molla on Sunday evening.”

Earlier in the day, the International Crimes Tribunal issued the death warrant for war criminal Abdul Quader Molla.

Quader Molla was the first to have been sentenced to lifetime imprisonment by the war crimes tribunal in February 5.

Later, the International Crimes (Tribunals) Act, 1973 was changed in light of widespread protests towards providing an equal scope of appeal for prosecution and defence.

The Appellate Division of the Supreme Court revised the sentence of Quader Molla to death for his crimes against humanity during the Liberation War of Bangladesh.
