The High Court issued a rule on Sunday seeking answer to why an order will not be issued to reinstate the provision of the “no vote”.
Bench of Justice Mirza Hussein Haidar and Justice Muhammad Khurshid Alam Sarkar issued the rule.
The cabinet secretary, law secretary, chief election commissioner and election commission secretary have been asked to come up with answers by two weeks.
The provision for “no vote” was erased from the Representation of the People Order during the Awami League-led coalition’s rule in the last five years.
