Charge sheet in Kibria murder case shortly: Minister

The home ministry has decided to submit the charge sheet in former finance minister Shah AMS Kibria murder case completing its additional investigation.

The number of accused will be 28 nine of them have been added while 19 others were made accused in this case earlier.

The decision was taken at a meeting of the sensational cases monitoring cell of the ministry on Wednesday with Home Minister MK Alamgir in the chair.

After the meeting, the minister told reporters that a total of 15 new cases were tabled before the meeting for discussion. Besides these, 10 old and nine other nearly disposed cases were also discussed in the meeting. “We are satisfied with the progress of investigations in those cases.”

Regarding progress in Kibria murder case, he said the Criminal Investigation Department had already finished its investigation and the charge sheet would be submitted soon. “They have identified the main killers and accused of the case,” he claimed but denied to disclose the names.

The minister also informed that the government had dismissed the police super of Habiganj for diverting the motive and merit of Kibria murder case. The former Awami League minister and four others were killed in a grenade attack on January 27 in 2005.

Cases regarding the killings of labour leader Aminul Islam and journalist couple Sagar and Runi had “very poor” progress. “We are yet to arrest the suspected killer of Aminul. We have announced award to know his location. But, we did not get him. We have already identified the whereabouts of the fugitive killer Mustafiz. We have taken steps to get him in hands within a short time.”

On Sagar and Runi killing case, the minister added that the investigation had been carried out sincerely “so that no innocent is victimised.”

The meeting approved the decisions of submitting charge sheets in three cases and final reports in two.

Charge sheets will be given in the cases of Firoz Uddin Ahmed Sumon killing of Begumganj under Noakhali; Ridwanul Mohsin Tipu killing of Madhabpur under Habiganj; and bomb blast incident of Baniarchar Church of Muksudpur under Gopalganj.

Alamgir said the investigating agencies had been instructed to submit final reports in the cases involving Razibul Islam Razu killing in Fatulla under Narayanganj; and MV Bangabiraz’s third officer Musa Bin Siraz killing in Patenga of Chittagong. The minister also said the killers of bomb blasting incident at CPB’s rally of Paltan had been identified.

The investigation of Wahiduzzaman Rumiz killing case under Adabar police station was about to complete. Five killers of Faridganj’s Abdullah Al Jaber and some killers of Karabi killing cases under Hazaribagh police station had also been identified.

“But the investigating agency is yet to find the killers of Bilkis, the slain house help of former shipping minister Akbar Hossain’s resident,” he added.

The meeting also discussed about Ganatantri Party chief Nurul Islam murder case, six students killing incident in Amin Bazar, Gulshan’s Arif killing case and a High Court judge’s signature forgery case.
