A Dhaka court on Monday placed Hefazat-e-Islam Mufti Mohammad Wakkas on 15 days of remand in the five sabotage cases lodged against him.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate SM Ashiqur Rahman passed the order as the investigation officers of the cases sought 10 days of remand for each of the cases.
Among the five cases, two were filed with Motijheel police station and three other with Paltan police station claiming lots of vehicles and government offices were damaged at Dhaka’s Motijheel, Fakirapool, Paltan, Ittefaq More, Gopibagh, Kamalapur, Dilkusha on May 5 at the direct instigation of top 18-Party alliance leaders for toppling the government.
The cases include Mufti Wakkas’ roles to obstructing police from performing their duties, vandalism, arson and explosion.
