Hundreds of labourers of Rajshahi Jute Mills Sunday put up blockade on the Dhaka-Rajshahi Highway in front of mill gate in protest against non-payment of their wages of the third installment declared by the Wages Commission Board.
Speakers at the blockade programme said the government had long been pledging that it would pay the wage of third instalment but the authorities did not comply with it.
As a result, labourers of the mills have been facing financial hardship.
The speakers demanded that the authority full-fill their demands immediately.
They also threatened that they would wage tougher movement if the authority does not take measure to ease their financial crisis.
The hour-long blockade started this morning was attended among others by Labour leaders Elias Ali and Anisur Rahman while labour leader Emdadul Haque presided over it.
A huge traffic jam was created in front of the mills gate due to road blockade programme.
