A Dhaka Court on Wednesday ordered a two-day remand for Jasimuddin Rahmani, the chief of alleged Islamist militant outfit Ansarullah Bangla Team, in connection with the attempt to murder case of blogger Asif Mohiuddin.
Dhaka Metropolitan magistrate Keshab Rai Chowdhury ordered the remand after the investigation officer of the case sought a 10-day remand.
Blogger Asif came under attack on January 13 in the city’s Uttara area.
The attackers are believed to be the members of Ansarullah Bengali Team, a newly-launched militant organisation, said MoshiurRahman, additional deputy commissioner (South) of DB.
The same group had masterminded the killing of blogger Ahmed Rajib Haider on February 15 under the leadership of Jasimuddin.
Earlier, on September 2, Rahmani admitted to his role in killing Rajib in a confessional statement under section 164.
On August 26, a Dhaka court placed Rahmani on a seven-day remand in connection with the murder of RajibHaider.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Harun-ur-Rashid ordered the remand after Mainul Islam, a Detective Branch inspector and the investigation officer of the Rajib murder case, sought a 10-day remand.
On August 12, Jasimuddin was arrested in Barguna with 30 of his disciples.
