Oishee Rahman, the teenager suspected of murdering her parents, is around 19 years old, according to the findings of the forensic department of Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH).
“The forensic department on Sunday completed the medical report on Oishee Rahman’s age determination, which has been submitted to the police for forwarding to the court,” Sohel Mahmood, associate professor of DMCH’s forensic department, said on Monday.
He also said there was a delay in finalising the report as it took some time to obtain all the results of her medical tests.
The report prepared by the forensic team is based on Oishee’s X-ray and other physical examination results, and it determines her age as around 19 years old, Jahangir Hossain Matubbor, deputy commissioner of the Detective Branch of Police, confirmed to the Dhaka Tribune on Tuesday. The report also mentions the age of the family’s housemaid, Shumi, as around 11 years old.
Jahangir said police received the report from the forensic department at noon on Monday, and it would be submitted to the court for further procedure.
On August 21, Oishee and Shumi were taken to the DMCH for tests to determine their age after a Dhaka court accepted a petition by the investigation officer of the murder case of Special Branch Inspector Mahfuzur Rahman and his wife Shapna Rahman.
The couple was killed at their own residence in the capital’s Chamelibagh area on August 14, allegedly by their daughter, Oishee. She was taken into remand for five days after she surrendered at Paltan police station. She later gave a confessional statement in court about her parents’ killings.
