3 Bogra militants on 10 days fresh remand

A district court on Monday placed three suspected militants rounded up from Bogra town on 10 days fresh remand in cases under Arms Act.

Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate Abdul Hamid passed the order following a remand plea of Rapid Action Battalion ASP Abu Sayeed.

On August 23, the three suspected militants were taken on 10 days of remand.

Law enforcers have rounded up three members of a hitherto unknown alleged Islamist militant group from the northern district township of Bogra on August 22 in a nightlong drive.

The arrestees are -- Sanaullah Islam, Rafiqul Islam Rubel and Barah Sheikh Babu.

Rapid Action Battalion in a press briefing on August 23 made the disclosure that the new group, which called itself “BEM,” had been planning subversive activities in the area.

Being tipped off; a Rab team conducted a drive from Thursday afternoon and arrested the three. However, the 18 others BEM activists managed to flee from the scene.

During interrogation, the arrested confessed that militant outfit JMB is now operating under new platform BEM.
